Family Access Information Available
Further Instructions on How to Use Olympia High and Middle School Family Access

Family Access
Family Access provides Olympia High School and Olympia Middle School parents access to some of the information we have in our software. Parents/Guardians are assigned a unique Login/User ID and Password which allows them to log in to the system via the internet. We hope that you not only find this ability useful, but can provide feedback that helps us to use this function of our software as effectively as possible. Remember, this feature allows you to view information about your student(s) and only your student(s). What follows is information on how to use Family Access from logging in to using the links you'll find once you're logged in.
Logging In
To log in to Family Access, simply log on to the internet and navigate to the Olympia homepage (www.olympia.org). On the right hand portion of the page, you'll see a button entitled Skyward Educator Access Family Access. Point over the words Family Access and click. Clicking on that link will take you to the Family Access log-in screen. At this point, you will need to use the unique Login/ID and password provided through the mail.
It's important to note that Family Access is not yet being used district-wide. This means that you will see only the information pertaining to your OHMS students. For those of you who have students in other buildings, you will see their names but you will not be able to access their information.
At this point you will need to select your student from the drop down dialog box at the top of the screen. Once selected, you will see five links appear on the left side of the screen: View Login History, Attendance, Schedule, Grading, and Student Info. What follows is a brief summary of the information that can be found through each link.
View Login History
This link allows you to view when you've logged in and what portions of the information you have accessed.
Attendance
When you click on Attendance, the current months of the school calendar appears by default. Each absence or tardy is indicated on the corresponding day on the calendar; absences being identified as excused or unexcused. At the top of this screen is a tab which allows you to view the attendance history By Day and Totals .
Under Attendance, there is a function that allows you to e-mail an absence notification to the school office. The notification is e-mailed to the school secretary. In most cases, absences are approved, but in some cases they are denied. It is important to note that while the secretary receives the notification, the building principal is responsible for approving (excusing) or denying (indicating that an absence is unexcused). At this time, we ask that you continue communicating your child's absences in the same manner you have used since the beginning of the school year.
Schedule
When you click on the schedule link, you will be able to view your student's schedule.
Food Service
From the Family Access Food Service link you can monitor account information, payments and purchases. There is additional information concerning Food Service under the Superintendent's Office Tab on the left side of the Front Page of the web page. Please select Food Service from the drop down arrow.
Grading
Aside from Attendance, this is probably the most useful feature available through Family Access. It allows you to view your child's grades. In addition, if teachers are using the electronic grade book feature in Skyward, your student's performance on daily assignments, quizzes, and tests can be viewed. At this point, teachers are not required to use the grade book feature. Please be aware when viewing assignments, the entries may not be current. While teachers strive to enter grades in a timely fashion, that is not always possible. If a concern should arise regarding a grade, please keep this in mind when contacting us to allow us to address your concern.
When you click on the Comments link you will be able to view comments entered by your student's teachers for each grading period.
Student Info
This link allows you to view the personal information for your student entered in our system. It includes information such as address, phone numbers, locker number and combination, and more.
