Olympia Science Busy Working on Projects Halfway Through the Semester

Olympia science classes are over half-way through their semester. Many classes have taken some major tests or mid-terms just before the end of the nine weeks.
Chemistry classes are learning information from the periodic table, and then with this information, they will be able to learn how to use chemical binding. Mrs. Westphalen’s physical science class is also currently learning why the periodic table is useful.
The two biology 1 classes are each working on different subjects. Biology 1 in Mrs. Cooper’s class is in the middle of a unit about mitosis and cell division. In Mr. Cleary’s class, they are studying cells and doing an egg diffusion lab.
Physical science classes are working on states of matter projects with the ice-cream lab; Mrs. Mohr’s class is getting ready to present their states of matter projects.
Advance Biology is still working on their plant projects, watering, visiting them three times a week, and taking observations. In Biology 2, Mr. Cleary’s class is currently dissecting squid and has just finished up a lab studying invertebrates.
Meanwhile, Principles of Technology are doing a calorimeter lab. This is where they take a peanut and burn it; a cup filled with water above it will measure how many calories the peanut has.
