Computer and Engineering Career Day Held At OHS
by Caitie Ross and Lydia Schmidgall
November 06, 2007
Who knew that science/engineering could mean preserving forest? On October 30, Olympia High School students were in for a treat when there were Career Day speakers from Kathryn Beich, Sugar Grove Nature Center, public works for Minier, McLean County Highway Department, and Caterpillar. Mrs. Meissner’s, Olympia’s German teacher, husband, Manfred Meissner, was one of the speakers from Caterpillar. They talked about theirs lives and a typical day for their job.
Many of the students enjoy the opportunity to see careers that they never thought of doing in their future. Olympia students have seen many careers already this semester, but they still have some more to come. The next section of speakers will focus on labor careers on November 20th.
