Oly Student Earns Money to Assist Children in Need

by Erin Kumpf

November 30, 2007

Sophomore Kaley Grill works in the school cafeteria during and after lunch to earn some extra money.  Many students at Olympia have jobs, but spend their money on themselves. But for Kaley, children are more important.

Kaley uses some of her earnings to sponsor two children in Africa through the Christian Children’s Fund.  When asked what made her decide to sponsor the children, she said,” I just kept seeing the commercials and they made me upset so I decided that I wanted to help.”

The two little boys that she sponsors are six years old.  To sponsor one child, it costs $24 a month.  Kayli was sent a picture and biography about the children so she could learn more about the children that she is helping.

When asked how it made her feel to know that she was helping children, she replied, “It makes me feel really good.”

This is a great way to reach out and help people in need just as Kaley has done and it makes a big difference in people’s lives.  Thank you, Kaley!
