Spring is almost here and the Olympia High School Greenhouse has launched a new website to help keep the community informed about greenhouse activities. The new website includes information about plants that are being grown in the greenhouse, the spring plant sale, and a live webcam.
The live webcam features a continuously refreshing image of the inside of the greenhouse so everyone can watch the plants and the project develop this spring.
Click the link to get to the Olympia Greenhouse website.
The greenhouse plant sale will be on Friday, May 2, 2007 at 2-6 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 at 8-11 a.m. Olympia district employees may purchase plants on Wednesday, April 30th; the greenhouse will be open 2-5 pm.
Plants for sale include: marigold, petunia (including wave and double), scabiosa, coleus, impatiens, snapdragon, zinnia, tomato, ivy, grasses, salvia, verbena, calibracoa, spike, geraniums, coreopsis, heliotrope, dianthus, nicotiana, pansy, dusty miller, alyssum, and many more.
Plants are grown by students enrolled in the advanced horticulture and biology classes. All proceeds are used to purchase supplies and equipment for next year’s sales and other educational projects. The greenhouse is located north of the Olympia High School building.
The website is still under construction and will continue to be updated and changed as the curriculum evolves.
