AVC student and Olympia Senior, Troy Wibben traveled down to sunny Florida for a few days to attend The International Builders Show.  Not only did he get to enjoy the fact he was in Florida, but Troy, along with other AVC students, were given the opportunity to present a project they have been working on in AVC class.

The Convention took place February 13-16. Over 300 educational speakers and presenters spoke at this event. The convention is full of exhibitors all the construction and building field.

Troy Wibben, who has a lot of interest in architecture, said he had volunteered to go because he wanted to broaden his horizon in the Building Trades Field.

The AVC students in the architecture design class have been working on designing a house for the past 3 months! They participated in the Residential Construction Competition. Troy was in charge of the cost and other financial information for their project. Troy and his classmates competed against other two year vocational schools.

Overall, Troy and his team placed 5th out of 12 teams in the Residential Construction category. “It was a wonderful experience and I would do it if I could,” Wibben said.

Next year, the International Builders show will be held in Las Vegas.
