Spelling Bee

Friday was a nerve-racking day for 40 students attending the McLean County Spelling Bee at Illinois Wesleyan University. Each student attending was the winner of their school spelling bee. Olympia Middle School sent Megan Birky to represent our student population. Megan was up for anything they threw at her, however, did not make it past the first round. The words were undoubtedly tricky and complex. Often they were words that most people had never seen let alone had to spell. This was a great accomplishment for Megan.
Megan was competing not only with 39 other students but her sister Brienna. Brienna won the spelling be at West.
