Olympia Graduate Joins Olympia's Administrative Team

By Board approval at the regular scheduled Board of Education meeting held on Monday, March 10, 2008, Olympia Community Unit School District No. 16 employed Mrs. Laura (Batterton) O'Donnell as Principal of Olympia South Elementary effective August 4, 2008. Mrs. O'Donnell will be replacing Mr. Tim Sexton upon his retirement.
A 1991 graduate of Olympia High School, Mrs. O'Donnell continued her education at Illinois State University earning a Bachelor's degree in Education-Biological Sciences, a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction, and an endorsement for General Administration. She is currently participating in advanced Curriculum & Instruction course work.
Mrs. O'Donnell's experience includes teaching at Blue Ridge High School in Farmer City, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Normal Community West High School. She has served as the Assistant Principal at Normal Community West High School for the past 2 years.
Mrs. O'Donnell, who resides in Atlanta with her husband and 3 children, looks forward to becoming a part of the Olympia family and serving her home community.
