Let’s Go Shearing With Oly West Kindergarten!

Have you ever wanted to understand how a sheep or lamb was sheared? Well, just ask the kindergarteners at Oly West.
This past week our kindergarten classes received a visit from some of these white fluffy friends. Lenny Whitaker a kindergarten parent from L&W Livestock made a special stop at West to bring these cute wooly friends to visit with the children. The children were able to spend time with two lambs and a two-year-old sheep. The children were able to take turns feeding and petting the sheep. They then enjoyed a demonstration of how a sheep is sheared. There were many excited looks on the children’s faces to see the shearing process.
Here are a few thoughts from the children about their special visit.

Yesterday I saw baby lamb and a sheep. I got to pet. I really like the lamb. I saw yesterday a trailer. I really like the sheep. I got to pet sheep.

As you can see the children so much enjoyed their special visit. We want to send a special thank you to Lenny and L&W Livestock for bringing our friends to visit us at school. Unlike Mary’s lamb it was NOT against our rules and made the children laugh and play to have a lamb at school.
