Olympia West First Grade Honors Poetry

Mrs. Brand’s and Mrs. Patterson’s first graders at Olympia West Elementary have been honoring the month of April with poetry. The students embraced the Shel Silverstein book, Where the Sidewalk Ends, by creating beautiful chalk sidewalk renditions of their favorite things to do. They wrote poems about springtime that emphasized rhyming words with similar patterns. Both classes wrote acrostic poems describing their special attributes and talents. To complete their art work, students created colorful flowers that will grow from the April showers.
