Safe or Break at Oly West?

The Third graders at Oly West ended their special week of egg hatching with the Fourth Annual Egg Drop. The students were assigned to create a special container that would protect a raw egg as it was thrown off the roof of the school. The students created these special containers at home and brought them to school Friday, May 9th to give them the final safety test.
Mrs. Hawkins and Mrs. Lang setup on to the roof of the school at 9:30 Friday morning to toss the eggs off the roof. The other grades came out to cheer students on in their quest for creating a safe egg container. As the eggs were tossed students had to stand up and claim their egg as it fell from the sky. Some of the containers had parachutes, balloons, and pool floating devices to glide their eggs to the ground. Once all the eggs were tossed the students were given the opportunity to open their containers and determine the fate of their eggs.
The students had an “egg”citable week of chick hatching and egg tossing. Thank you to all the parents and community members that helped the students during this special week. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Hawkins and Mrs. Lang launching our eggs off the roof.
