The Illinois Woman’s Press Association held a High School Communications Contest where high school students could enter an original piece of work, such as an article, a drawing or a photograph.
There will be an awards luncheon for the presentation of the awards with keynote speaker Megan Mawicke, a sports anchor for CBS Channel 2, Chicago, at the Union League Club in Chicago in May.
Erin Schmidt, OHS senior, was one of the many winners through out the state. She was awarded Honorable Mention in the Graphics category with her “Moment of Silence” piece.
She said, “It’s nice to be recognized for something so positive. It was a good accomplishment for me and I’m glad I got it.”
Congratulations, Erin!
