Girls Track Still Working Hard

It’s that time again; spring is here, its warm outside, and school is almost out. You know what that means; track and field is coming to an end. The girl’s track team only has a few meets left. The freshmen and sophomores have their conference meet tonight at Pontiac. Tomorrow there is an invitational meet in Eureka. Then, on Monday the varsity runners have their conference meet at Rantoul High School. And, after that there are sectionals, the most important meet of the season. Sectionals are taking place in Macomb this year. The meet is on Friday, May 9th.
The girls have been working hard all season, and even with the very small number of participants on the team, they have been some great outcomes. School records have been broken, almost everyone has PR’d (personal record) in one of their events, if not more. They girls finally have their whole team back after a few illnesses that kept some girls out for the majority of the season.
When asked his about his expectations on what events have a chance for qualifying for state, Coach Neisler said, “Well, it all depends on how fast we run.” Hopefully all the hard work will pay off for the girls in the end, and they can perform to their best when it matters most next Friday. Good Luck Girls!
