Foods Teacher Ms. Kirby Looks Forward to Renovated Kitchens Next Year

With the end of the school year nearing and students getting ready for summer, Ms. Kirby’s classes have been going well. She says that with a good base curriculum, the classes have gone smoothly. Ms. Kirby is still teaching Foods and Orientation to Family and Consumer Sciences.
For the end of the year, the Foods class will working on outdoor grilling. Also Mr. Bill Thomas, father of Oly graduate Grace Thomas, was here on Thursday, May 7, 2008 to give a lesson on pie making. For next year the plans are basically the same, but with the new foods room, “It will help everything just go smoother,” said Ms. Kirby.
For a little about her, her favorite part of teaching Home Economic classes is how hands on the teaching is and that it teaches students much needed life skills. Ms. Kirby wants to tell all her future students that, “It should be a fun year with the new room.”
So if you happen to have Ms. Kirby on your 2008-2009 schedule, expect it to be fun and exciting, especially since you will be among the first to use the newly renovated room.
