With Success Club, the sky's the limit! Have you ever wanted to have some extra time away from everything to either study or to work by yourself for a few hours? Then Success Club is for you!
Success Club was designed for freshmen and sophomores who want to get a good start on their school work. The sessions occur throughout the year. Providing the tutoring is Ms. McCartney, and other volunteer teachers.
This spring, 22 students attended 50% or more of their sessions. Response to intervention or RTI is a national mandate that says by January of 2009 the school must have a plan in place to help students who are not achieving at their grade level. That’s where Success Club kicks in.
Ms. McCartney had much to say about the benefits of Success Club, "I see more and more students completing their assignments, passing their classes and earning credits. I’m hoping we have had it for five semesters now, the group that first started were juniors this year next year they’ll be seniors. I’m hoping the kids that were regular attenders at Success Club will all be graduating and that they won’t have to take any correspondence or Novanet or anything, that they will have done well as freshman and sophomore years and that their senior year they’ll just have to pass their classes and get their diploma that there won’t be a crisis or panic at the end. But each semester we’ve seen an improvement in each group of them passing more classes and doing better and better.”
Ms. McCartney hopes that Success Club will continue in the future as well as freshman and sophomore students who enjoy that special time.
