On the afternoon of Friday, October 10, the faculty and staff of Olympia Middle School engaged in professional development geared toward school improvement. As part of a year-long study of Eaker and DuFour's Professional Learning Communities at Work, the idea of building a "culture of collaboration" was examined. To facilitate the inservice, Mrs. Deb Schrock, Executive Director of AIMS (Association of Illinois Middle-level Schools) presented a two-hour study session titled, "Effective Teaming: 6 Strategies from High Performing Middle Schools." Teachers enjoyed the chance to collaborate in a professional setting for the afternoon.
