OMS has partnered with Illinois State University by becoming one of three area PDS (Professional Development Schools) at the middle school level. OMS, along with Bloomington Jr. High School and Tri-Valley Middle School, host year long undergraduate student teachers from ISU. The partnership is designed to assist both entities: to help ISU find a more rigorous program for their middle school student teachers, and to help OMS keep abreast of the latest research and educational trends from the university and its extended network.
On Thursday, October 23 all students currently enrolled in the PDS program at Tri-Valley, OMS and BJHS attended an afternoon session on Eaker and DuFour's Professional Learning Communities at Work. The session was hosted at OMS, and was instructed by Principal Dugan, who is currently leading the OMS faculty through a detailed, year long study of the seminal research.
