OHS Celebrates Student Accomplishments at Breakfast of Champions
Award recognizes students for positive effect at OHS
OHS Honored students for the positive examples they present to the student body at the 8th annual Breakfast of Champions on Friday, May 1, 2009. Over fifty students, parents, educators, and guests enjoyed scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and cinnamon rolls at the 2009 awards breakfast. This event is held annually to recognize students who distinguish themselves as positive examples for the OHS student body. Typically, recipients have demonstrated outstanding character, courage, and effort - often in light of tremendous obstacles or circumstances.
Olympia High School and the Olympia Food Service Department collaborate each year in making this ceremony possible. The process begins in March when a faculty member recommends a student for this honor. The students and their families are then invited to the breakfast to be "surprised" this distinction. Each student is recognized individually the morning of the breakfast noting their outstanding accomplishments.
A special thanks goes out to Ms. McCartney for all of her tireless efforts in planning and arranging every detail of the event. Additionally, Mary Idelman and the food service department are commended for their efforts in preparing and serving a fabulous breakfast. Thanks also to the teachers who participated by honoring students who exert a positive influence in their classrooms.
Olympia High School is very proud of these students. The student certificate expresses this award with the following quote, "It is a rare person who comes along and raises the standards of excellence, who captures the hearts of many, and inspires others, by their determination to succeed." challenges. Once again, to all our champions, congratulations - we are proud of you!
