Ronald McDonald Visits South
Ronald McDonald made another appearance at Olympia South Monday morning. This time he met with ECE through 3rd grade and talked about being a friend and not bullying. The performance consisted of music and magic tricks that got the message out to the students that it is never okay to be a bully. Ronald had several helpers come up to help him. At one point he had three helpers demonstrate ways to be a friend. The first student wore a large orange monster hand to represent always providing a helping hand.
The second student had a big mouth hand puppet and huge glasses to show that you should always say nice things and look for the good in people. The last student wore large ears to remind the audience to listen to your friends.Ronald had one Kindergarten student and his teacher, Miss Newman, come up to talk about bullies. The message was that “when a teacher is near, a bully disappears.” Ronald had the student pick a hat that had a bully card inside it and then asked Miss Newman to do the same. The student was able to find the bully but Miss Newman was not. At the end of this skit, Ronald said “when a teacher’s back is turned, the bully will return.” As Miss Newman walked away to sit back down, the students were able to see that the bully card was on the back of her sweater.
The students at Olympia South love when Ronald McDonald comes to visit. Ronald has several positive messages that he shares with elementary students. Having Ronald visit our school is a result of the Olympia South and McDonalds partnership in education initiative. We will again be having our McDonald’s Spirit Night this fall on Monday, November 16th, at the McLean McDonald's. Hope to see you all there !
