Grandparents Set Record
OHS Enjoys Grandparents' Visit
Olympia High School grandparent's smashed last year's attendance record by ten with a new total of 66 attendees. Grandparent's joined their grandchildren in experiencing the 4 block schedule, the student advisory period, and school lunch as a part of their recent visit to the high school on Wednesday, October 28, 2009.
Now in it's 4th year, OHS Grandparent's Day, began with coffee and rolls in the cafeteria. Grandparent's and school administrators spent this time in casual conversation. Students joined their grandparents at 9:30 and accompanied them to the auditorium where the days activities were discussed along with a video presentation on school activities.
After this grandparent's went with students to 2nd block class, advisory, and lunch. Additionally, grandparents returned to the auditorium for the closing ceremonies where their grandchildren presented them with certificates of attendance. They were also awarded special pictures from the days activities. It was noted that two grandparents traveled from Topeka, KS and Branson, MO for the event.

Grandparent's Day
Special thanks to the Olympia Food Service Department and Mrs. Mary Idleman for preparing coffee, rolls, and lunch. Also, thanks to Mrs. Judy Williams for her help with decorating and welcoming guests to the event.
A big thanks to Ms. Ruth McCartney for all her hours in developing the video presentation, taking pictures for the slide show, and administering all the logistics for the entire event. Her passion to connect students and the important people in there lives was the catalyst for the development of Grandparent's Day four years ago.
