P.E. Picks Up the Pace
Olympia High School has really picked it up in the P.E. department making more physical activities and fitness tests at the end of every week.
P.E. used to be fun and games, but lately it has changed. There are two different levels of P.E. a more advance which is A.P.P.E. and there is Health and Wellness which consists of more games, but also consists of swimming.
At the end of each week the students run a pacer test or a 12 minute run. The students’ grades are based off of the previous week. They have to at least reach the same data as the week previous. The P.E. teachers keep track of all of their students’ data.
When asked how A.P.P.E. worked, Coach Smith stated, “We basically just do the same routine, one day we work out our whole bodies, one day we do our upper body, and the other day we workout our legs. There’s no more cross fit just back to our normal three day a week lifting.”
A.P. lifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, Health and Wellness play games mostly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Health and Wellness swim. They do many things to help their swimming form, and also they just swim laps to get in a good workout.
