Olympia Celebrates FFA Week
February 20-27th Olympia celebrated National FFA Week. The week first started with an Appreciation Dinner at Olympia High School on Saturday February 20th. The Olympia FFA served a home-cooked meal of ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, rolls, and dessert for those who have been supportive of them throughout the year. Over 100 students, parents, faculty, and guests attended the dinner.
The school week then started with Agriculture/FFA Trivia each morning and participation in dress up days. The dress up days included Boot Day, Hick Day, Carhartt Day, Camouflage Day, and Blue & Gold Day. On Wednesday 21 students participated in Drive Your Tractor to School Day and 29 participated in Truck Day. The Olympia FFA also held a Canned Food Drive and collected over 100 items to donate to a local food pantry. On Friday the entire school participated in an FFA Assembly where the chapter officers were recognized and prizes were given out for the contest winners from the week. The action-packed week concluded with an FFA basketball game at OHS and then FFA members went to Minier Lanes for bowling and pizza.
The Olympia FFA is lead by President Wade Springer. Vice-President Brett Johnson, Reporter Emily Sombeck, Secretary Rob Park, Treasurer Daniel Boudeman, Sentinel Doug Springer, Historian Adam Kaufman, and Advisor Mr. Matt Nordstrom. The mission of the FFA is to promote premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. The Olympia FFA would like to thank everyone who participated in National FFA Week and also thank everyone for their support throughout the year.
