OHS Library Celebrates Teen Tech Week
Last week, the OHS Library honored Teen Tech Week, a national initiative aimed at helping teens gain computer, camera and other technological skills. The 2010 theme-Learn, Create, Share @ Your Library- is meant to foster creativity and show that a library can be a safe physical, as well as virtual, place to explore technology such as DVDs, music, and audio books.
Students participated in a High Tech Treasure Hunt where pictures and clues were given about library materials, helping them answer the questions. Treasure Hunt winner of a twenty dollar gift card, Kelsey Haggerman, said “The treasure hunt was super awesome and fun.” Oly students could also vote for their favorite book on OlyReads pbWiki website and receive various prizes.
“The reason for Teen Tech Week was to get students involved with different kinds of technology, I focused on making the online catalog and pbWiki site more available and inviting to the students,” said OHS Librarian Susan Mullen.
Along with more student use of the Wiki site, Ms. Mullen also hopes to make a book recommendation section, dedicated to student reviews.
