IHSA Solo
The annual IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest was held Saturday, March 6th at Bloomington High School. The contest included over 20 area high schools. Olympia High School sent 24 entries. There were 18 vocal entries and 6 instrumental entries. Three of our entries received the further distinction of being named "Best of the Day" . This is a very prestigious award, since it is not given based on school enrollment, but on talent alone.
The students receiving a Division I or Superior rating for their vocal solos were: Jarek Millburg, Matthew Henry, Tiffany Tackett – Best of the Day, Andrew Biever, Jessica Nicholas, and Ashley Mehl. Vocal ensembles receiving a Division I rating were: the Olympia Chamber Choir, ( Maggie Gillard, Ashley Litwiller, Ashley Mehl, Jessica Nicholas, Tiffany Tackett, Hannah Bauersfeld, Taylor Cremeens, Molly Jo Gillard, Jennifer Litwiller, Kayce Stutzman, Matthew Henry, Robert Park, Christian Tallent, Andrew Biever, Kent Graber, Eric Hansen,& Adam Weseloh), Tiffany Tackett & Robert Park , Mixed Duet, Tiffany Tackett, Robert Park, & Matthew Henry, Mixed Trio -Best of the Day, Tiffany Tackett & Hannah Bauersfeld, Duet, Olympia Chamber Choir Male Ensemble (Matthew Henry, Robert Park, Christian Tallent, Andrew Biever, Kent Graber, Eric Hansen,& Adam Weseloh) – Best of the Day, Olympia Chamber Choir Female Ensemble (Maggie Gillard, Ashley Litwiller, Ashley Mehl, Jessica Nicholas, Tiffany Tackett, Hannah Bauersfeld, Taylor Cremeens, Molly Jo Gillard, Jennifer Litwiller, Kayce Stutzman).
Students receiving Division II or Excellent ratings were: Ashley Litwiller, Ashley Edenfield, and Rich Cleveland, vocal solos, and Ellyn Lyle & Eric Hansen, Mixed Duet.
Students receiving Division III or Good ratings were: Kayla Bush and Zach Thomas, vocal solo.
Olympia Instrumentalists ratings were as follow: Hannah Bauersfeld, Division I, oboe solo, Hannah Bauersfeld, Division I, piano solo, Erin Shull, Division I, piano solo, Matthew Henry, Division II, French horn solo, Eric Hansen, Ashley Mehl, & Adam Weseloh, Division II, mixed brass ensemble, Jaden Horrer, piano solo, Division IV.
