OMS Principal's Welcome
On behalf of Olympia Middle School staff I would like to welcome all of the parents and students back for another exciting school year. The Olympia District represents eight communities in five different counties and encompasses 377 square miles. Olympia Middle School is located at the OHMS campus. Olympia Middle School serves approximately 425 students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade.
The students at Olympia Middle School strives to meet or exceed the state standards and requirements that have been established by No Child Left Behind. Last year OMS students performed very well on the ISAT tests. 92.8% of the students met or exceeded the state standards in Reading and 93.8% of the students met or exceeded the state standards in Math. Olympia Middle School students should also be commended for their 94.4% attendance rate in the 2010-2011 school year, which was a 3 year high.
The Olympia Middle School curriculum offers the core subjects of Math, Social Studies, Reading, Language Arts, Science as well as a diverse offering of Encore courses. The Encore courses that the students can take advantage of are Art, Technology, Band, Family and Consumer Science in 7th grade, Chorus in 7th and 8th grade, Spanish in 8th grade, Health, and Physical Education. Olympia Middle School also offers a wide array of extra-curricular activities for the students to participate in.
