Welcome to Olympia High School! Olympia High School is a comprehensive high school charged with the mission "to provide an environment that fosters honesty, integrity, discipline, citizenship, self directed lifelong learning, and the pursuit of excellence through rigorous academic and extracurricular programs." The focus for Olympia High School this year is to further develop our student's character, competency, and sense of community.
Character is one of the hallmarks of true leadership. Olympia students will demonstrate the highest levels in their relationships with their peers, teachers, and our school communities. Extracurricular activities including our academic and sports teams, music programs, and internal leadership opportunities through student council, FFA, and other available clubs provide a testing ground for continued success. Students perfect sportsmanship skills through interaction with peers in their conference activities, and leadership skills with opportunities such as the Cornbelt Leadership Conference. Olympia's students also exercise the opportunity to lead in many state level student organizations.
The competency of Olympia's High School students is developed and sharpened by demanding college preparatory, vocational, technical, and fine arts programs which give the Olympia High School student the opportunity to seek a path that will thoroughly prepare them for life after high school. Advanced Placement courses, the EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology) Lab, and vocational classes at Bloomington's Area Vocational Center are examples of the wide range of options available to our students. In supporting these academic programs, the Olympia High School student has considerable access to technology that will meet their desire to learn and connect to the outside world.
A strong sense of community is important for the maintenance of rural values for future generations. Olympia High School is working to encourage students to serve in a variety of areas at school and in their community. This service focuses on respect for the members of our community. It also focuses on giving back to a community that has nurtured and encouraged the students of Olympia throughout their school years.
Olympia High School works in cooperation with students, parents, and the community to provide the best rural educational opportunities available. We are looking forward to a school year filled with academic and extracurricular success, and hope to see you at school supporting the accomplishments of our students!
