Olympia North Opens 09-10 in a New Way!
The wait is over as the new Olympia North Elementary School opened on August 24, 2009. The entire community got a “sneak peek” at the state of the art school on Sunday, Aug. 23. Students were thrilled to walk into the halls and colorful classroom pods on the first day of school.
The new school is a high performance “green” school implementing daylighting as an important light source. A geothermal heating and cooling system are featured to be more energy efficient. The new school re-used the existing gym and recycled the concrete foundations of the old building to use for fill under the parking lot. Each classroom is equipped with computerized interactive whiteboards.
These enhancements and improvements in the learning environment has been a vision of Olympia CUSD 16. The vision has become a reality as students begin a new school year in a very new way.
