There are five new teachers to Olympia Middle School for the 2009-2010 school year!  Please join me in welcoming each of our new teachers to OMS and to the Olympia community.

Sara Hughes

Ms. Hughes is the new 8th Grade Language Arts teacher and Literary Coach.  She is from the Chicago suburbs and graduated from St. Xavier University.  Prior to coming to OMS. Ms. Hughes worked in a middle school near Chicago.  In her free time, Ms. Hughes likes to read, draw, crochet, and spend time with friends and family.  Ms. Hughes is looking forward to the new school year, and is grateful for all of the new friends she is making at OMS.

Jackie Holmes

Mrs. Holmes is the new Media Specialist at OMS.  She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and now lives in Bloomington with her husband, Bill, and her daughter, Chloe.  Ms. Holmes was a Certified Public Accountant for twelve years before receiving her degree in Business Education.  In her free time, Ms. Hughes enjoys doing mom stuff with her daughter.  Her favorite thing about Olympia is how friendly everyone is, and she now gets to work in her dream job!

Jennifer Love

Ms. Love is the new 8th grade Math and Algebra teacher.  She is from Bloomington and is a graduate of Illinois State University.  Ms. Lover plans on completing her Master's Degree in Mathematics from Illinois State University in 2010.  In her free time, Ms. Love enjoys spending time with her family and helping her brother who is a sophomore in college.  What she likes best about OMS is the opportunity to be creative in her own classroom work with the best students!

Katie Downey

Ms. Downey is the new 6th grade Special Education teacher at OMS.  She is from a small town known as Putnam, and her family lives in the small village known as Lake Thunderbird.  She is a graduate of Illinois State University, and taught near Springfield last spring.  In her free time, Ms. Downey enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  What she likes about OMS so far is that everyone has been very supportive and the students are great!

Allison Gray

Allison is the new 6th grade Health teacher.  She is a recent graduate of Illinois State University, and is from Bloomington.  Mrs. Gray also teaches P.E. at Olympia North in the mornings.  In her free time, Mrs. Gray enjoys planning for her honeymoon as she was just married on September 4.
