OMS Boys' Cross Country Run to Second Place
Congratulations to the Boys’ Cross Country Team as they finished in second place at the Class A State Cross Country Meet. The meet took place on Saturday, October 17 at Maxwell Park in Normal. Three of the Olympia runners finished in the top 25 making them state medalists. Ryan Vandyke finished in 8th place with a time of 11:16, Connor Stine finished in 14th place with a time of 11:26, and Chase Thurman finished in 16th with a time of 11:27. The other Olympia runners who ran well and helped the team secure its second place finish were Joel Irons, Nick VanWye, Josh Melick, and Justin Brown.
Twenty schools were represented at the Class A State Cross Country Meet with over 200 boys running.
The Girls’ Cross Country Team also qualified for the Class A State
Cross Country Meet on Saturday. They finished in 17th place and had
one state medalist in Naomi Springer who finished in 20th place
with a time of 12:40.
Congratulations to Coach Jessica Wrage and both of her teams for
all their hard work in becoming the best runners they can be, and
with representing Olympia Middle School well all season long.
