OMS 8th Grade Test Drive A Career
On Thursday, November 5, the Bloomington Area Career Center, in collaboration with the McLean County Community Compact hosted the 3rd Annual Career and Technical Education Expo at the Interstate Center. This year's expo theme was Test Drive A Career.
Over 2,00 8th grade students from McLean County schools, including Olympia Middle School, came ready to explore. Prior to coming to the expo, OMS 8th grade students completed the Career Cruising 30 question career assessment online. This assessment narrowed down students' top three career choices of interest. This information helped guide students through the expo.
The purpose of the expo is to provide 8th grade students of McLean County with vital career and educational information, interactive presentations, and networking opportunities with business and industry professionals. Over 60 businesses vendors and colleges representing various departments from McLean County were in attendance.
OMS 8th grader, Luke Donovan, also was the winner of a computer the Bloomington Area Career Center raffled off to one student from each of the expo's three sessions. Congratulations Luke!
