OMS Reads!
Olympia Middle School is once again holding a “Read and Feed for Literacy.” This program is open to all students in grades 6-8. In order to participate, each student will need to set two reading goals, using Accelerated Reader or their Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) scores. Once the first goal is achieved (no later than March 17th), each student will receive a Peoria Chief Baseball ticket for the game on Sunday, May 2nd at 1 p.m. Other family members may purchase additional baseball tickets for $6.
After earning their free baseball ticket, students will work to meet their second goal, which is having the privilege of attending an ice cream social. Each grade level will build its own ice cream sundae, which will be displayed on the library wall. Once a book is read, and the student passes the AR test successfully or reports out about the book, he/she will add a “scoop of ice cream” to their grade level sundae dish. Along with the ice cream scoop, the student will also be entered into a raffle, with the winners being drawn during the ice cream social. The target day of completion to participate in the ice cream social is Friday, April 23rd, with the social itself being held on Friday, April 30th.
