Olympia Adopts New Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Policy

Names FOIA Officers

Effective January 1, 2010 legislators approved revised provisions regarding the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).  The FOIA is a state statute that provides the public the right to access government documents and records.  New timelines are now required when responding to the FOIA requests and every public body is now required to have FOIA Officers to assist with those requests.

The Olympia Board of Education approved these FOIA revisions at the January 11 regular Board of Education meeting and have named the following persons FOIA Officers for the Olympia District:

Brad Hutchison - brad.hutchison@olympia.org - (309)379-6011, ext. 1128

Andrew Wise - andrew.wise@olympia.org - (309)379-6011, ext. 1127

Velma Litwiller - velma.litwiller@olympia.org - (309)379-6011, ext. 1128
