Attention Comedy Fans, the Mr. Spartan Pagaent Will Be Held on March 12!
Attention comedy fans: mark your calendars for March 12. That is the date that the Olympia High School Student Council will be hosting their thirteenth annual Mr. Spartan pageant.
This year’s participants are: Seniors Daniel Boudeman, Kameron Carpenter, Neil Jayswal, Adam Kaufman, Lonnie Kirby, Laken Settles, Clint Stroud, and Michael Wittmer. This year's contest also features two juniors, Brian Behrens and Guy Hainline.
When asked about their feelings on the upcoming pageant, the contestants had many different answers. Senior Clint Stroud said, “I have been looking forward to this for three years. I’m just going to go out and have fun.” Michael Wittmer agreed, saying that, “There will be funny moments, sad moments, and touching moments, but it will be an all around great time.”
Junior Brian Behrens had a more big-picture perspective. “It seemed like just yesterday that we started practicing our dance, but it’s coming along well and I’m looking forward to it. Overall, my goal is to make the top five and then just see what happens.”
The contest involves a variety of categories. Contestants will showcase sportswear as well as formal wear, and they will also have roughly three minutes to showcase their skills and abilities in the talent portion. Then the fans vote combined with the judges’ vote will narrow the field to five, and they must then survive the interview round. After all of this, the judges will make the final decision, and the new Mr. Spartan will be crowned.
The $10 tickets will go on sale at 6:00 pm that night, with the doors opening at 6:30 for the 7:30 event.
So who will join the ranks of past champions like John Neisler, David Walker, Eric Biehl, and last year’s winner Hayden Grieder? Be there on March 12 to watch the action for yourself.
