Olympia Receives Financial Recognition Again This Year
Financial Excellence
The Olympia School District has earned the state's highest financial designation for the second year in a row despite the fact that the district was still owed $1.4 million in state aid at the end of it's last fiscal year. Tom Peffer of Gorenz and Associates presented his auditor's report to the Board of Education indicating the strength of the district's finances and how well they are managed. "You are passing realistic budgets and sticking to them," Peffer told the Board at the October meeting.
The Illinois State Board of Education has announced that the Olympia School District will again receive "Financial Recognition" status. This designation is the highest category attainable for school districts in the state of Illinois. The ISBE noted that this is a significant accomplishment. Olympia has received the highest rating possible 5 out of the last 6 years. Given the extreme economic difficulties that school districts are facing today, the Board, Administration, and Staff of the Olympia District are to be commended and honored to receive this Certificate of Recognition.
