Ankle foot Orthosis

This spring 7th grade students will be using the Design and Modeling Unit of the Project Lead the Way curriculum.  They will create many different objects over the remainder of the semester.

The first item 7th graders were challenged to make was an Ankle Foot Orthosis. It was designed for a student who had limited mobility in their leg/ankle/foot. Students had a wide variety of supplies to use including cardboard, duct tape, foam, bubble wrap, elastic bands and craft sticks.  The orthosis was supposed to be comfortable, removable, and prevent the user from bending the ankle. They worked in groups of 3 over 6 days and presented their creations to the rest of class.
