“Is there any new business to come before us at this time?” Those are the words that start eleven minutes of making motions, discussions, and voting in a mock meeting.  Six Olympia FFA members competed at the Section 9 Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event (CDE) on Monday, March 6th. The varsity team floor members were Nora Collins, Palmer Scheets, Reed Naughton, Noah Walsh, Keagan Meserole, and team chairperson Mallory Miller.  Parliamentary procedure requires many practices for members to learn basic procedure, additional motions, and the many other details that are required to run an efficient meeting.  Participants are judged on their ability to make and discuss motions and answer questions about proper parliamentary procedure. Olympia FFA’s Varsity Parliamentary Procedure team brought home 2nd place and will advance to districts in May!  Noah Walsh was the top floor member from Olympia and 3rd overall.  “Our team is very young this year with four sophomores and two freshmen, but the future is really bright with this group,” stated Mr. Hoffman.
