The Olympia High School NHS has been awarded the YICU Team Service and Advocate awards. The Why I See You (YICU) Service Awards recognize and celebrate community service and leadership in McLean County. Boarch member, Mrs. Kathy Weinzierl presented the award at the Dec. 3 NHS meeting at Olympia High School.  The Olympia NHS chapter has 65 members and is led by an officer team (President Keanna Uphoff, VP Gabe Demling, Officers: Madyson Bridgeforth, Tyler Carroll, Grace Carter, Leo Durheim, Bella Gallanos,  Kamryn Rader, Palmer Scheets), The officers develop and organize various volunteer events for members in the school district and the Olympia community. The students also help out with public events throughout the community. This year, NHS members have volunteered with the following community events: Halloween Fest, Veteran's Day greeters, Grinchmas, the Logan County Humane Society, Spartan Market food pantry, Angel Tree sponsors, Toys for Tots collection, and tutoring. Upcoming in the spring, students will sponsor the Royal Tea Party, the Bunny Bop Easter Egg Hunt and assist at other events in the community.  All funds raised are donated to St Jude, Toys for Tots, and Angel Tree.
