Olympia FFA Members “Dodge” Hunger with Section 9 FFA

Imagine a little boy watching a family movie and not having something to snack on.  Sadly, this is a reality for many people.  Olympia FFA “Lived to Serve” when they attended the first annual, Section 9 FFA event, called Dodging Hunger, in order to help flood victims in Kankakee, Illinois.  Hosted at Midwest Food Bank (MFB), the evening began with pizza and an inspirational video about the impact MFB has in family’s lives across America.

On Thursday, March 8, 2018, students worked side by side, creating an assembly line and efficiently packing 370 boxes!  After the service project was complete, Team Olympia competed in the dodgeball tournament and visited with FFA friends from across the section.  Olympia students in attendance were, Dawson Banister, Josie Litwiller, Cavit and Molly Schempp.  Section 9 FFA President, Kylie Miller, reflected saying, “It was so awesome to see our members come together to work on a project, with smiles on their faces and a true passion in their hearts, in order to help others.”  FFA members had a hand in getting food to a family in need, so that a little boy can watch a family movie, WITH snacks and create memories to last a lifetime.
