Congratulations to the Olympia High School Speech Team on their first competition of the season! It was great to start our season at home! Olympia walked away with two tournament champions. Beatrice Harbaugh in Poetry and Grace Melick in Oratorical Declamation!

Congrats to the Olympia boys XC team for being Regional champs at the Regional meet hosted by Olympia today, advancing them to the Sectional meet at Elmwood next Saturday. All 7 runners had season or all-time personal records! Oly’s top runner was Charlie Kistner (2nd place medalist), tying the school record with a time of 15:23! Behind him were Jon Neville (4th place medalist at 15:46), Logan Wheeler (5th place medalist at 15:47), Dylan Bennet (16:03), Owen Dare(16:19), Lucas Lawless (16:26), and Carter Fairfield (16:38). Great job guys and good luck next week!

Congrats to the Olympia girls’ XC team for a 3rd place finish at the Regional meet hosted by Olympia today, advancing them to the Sectional meet at Elmwood next Saturday. All 7 runners had season or all-time personal records! Oly’s top runner was Savanah Beavers(3rd place medalist) with a time of 18:15. Behind her were Anna Bieber(19:58), Ellen Springer (19:59), Maddie Litwiller (20:03), Sydnee Usherwood (21:06), Madison Bales(21:09), and Bailey Rogers (21:11). Great job gals and good luck next week!

Congratulations to the boys’ XC team on their win today at the 17-team St. Anthony Bulldog Classic Invite. They had a season low score of 17 points by finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, & 6th. Charlie Kistner led the pack in 15:06, Jon Neville ran 15:32, Logan Wheeler ran 15:38, Dylan Bennet ran 16:01, and Owen Dare was Olympia’s 5th man in 16:03. Lucas Lawless and Carter Fairfield ran 16:18 and 16:28, finishing in 12th and 13th place. The Spartans host the IHSA Regional meet next Saturday. The girls will race at 10:00 and the boys will start at 10:45. Good luck Spartans!

Boys champs at Effingham 2019
The girls’ cross country team finished 4th today at the Bulldog Classic Invite in Effingham. Savanah Beavers finished in 1st place with a time of 18:01, defending her title from last year. Anna Bieber was 16th, Ellen Springer was 18th, Maddie Litwiller finished in 20th place, and Sydnee Usherwood & Bailey Rogers finished in 32nd and 37th respectively to round out Olympia’s scoring. Nice job Lady Spartans!

Sophomore, Anna Singley, was the lead author of a research presentation that focused upon mathematically modeling suicide risk among U.S. veterans. The sponsors of this research are (the VA and Los Alamos National Lab). Olympia High School is proud of Anna - impressive work!!!
