As humans, we thrive on social connections and group associations. But this tendency can also lead us to be suspicious of people outside our group. This fear -- xenophobia -- can be overcome by more exposure to people who are different from us. However, the internet can often make this more difficult. Help your kids recognize this challenge and find strategies for navigating content online.
Make sure kids understand what cyberbullying is: repeated and unwanted mean or hurtful words or behavior that occur online (through texts, social media posts, online chat, etc.).
Once kids go online, their chances of finding cyberbullies, haters, and trolls is, sadly, quite high. Find age-specific guidelines, videos, and articles to help with tough conversations -- whether your kid is a bully or is being bullied. OMS Softball is headed to State tomorrow, Friday, September 27th @ 2:30 to take on Lake Zurich South at Champion Fields in Bloomington. They will leave OMS by escort at 12. They will make their way through Minier, past OWE and continue to Danvers to drive past ONE. Come out and cheer on our Lady Spartans.

💙🥎💙OMS Spartans Softball is State Bound💙🥎💙 They defeated Dunlap Panthers 5-2 today, which takes them to the Elite 8 in State. The Lady Spartans will take on Lake Zurich South, Friday September 27th at 2:30 pm in Bloomington, at Champion Fields.

MS varsity and JV baseball got back to their winning ways tonight vs Midwest Central. Varsity won 8-7 on 8th grade night with 3 runs in their final at bat. JV won the second game 3-0. Both teams will wrap up the regular season Friday vs El Paso Gridley.
OMS Softball beats Pekin Edison 12-2 tonight to win the Regional Championship. Come out to Olympia to support the Lady Spartans, on Saturday, September 21st at 11:00, as they take on Dunlap Middle School.
OMS Girls Softball defeats LJHS 8-2, to move on to the Regional Championship, this Tuesday, September 17th @ 4:30. They will take on Pekin Edison at Olympia. Please come out to cheer on your Lady Spartans to a Regional title.
MS baseball varsity and JV get another sweep tonight at Riverton 10-0 and 2-0. Both teams will be at Mt. Zion Saturday playing Teutopolis at 11:15 and Mt. Zion at 1:00.

MS baseball got two wins at Lincoln on Tuesday 17-1 and 9-1. Varsity falls to Washington Central 13-1 on Wednesday. Both varsity and JV are at Riverton on Thursday, first game at 4:30.
Friday Markets return September 27th! All students are welcome to stop by and check out school supplies, clothing and snacks/food.
OMS 8th Grade Softball Team finishes their regular season with a 10-0 win over Evans tonight. This brings their record to 16-1-1. Bring on post season.
